FAQ

Can I bring my dog?

Anderson's Outdoor Adventures is a 100% pet friendly company. Aboard the shuttle dogs must be leashed for safety of other passengers and so as to not disturb the driver. On the river your pet is welcome on the vessel, but be advised not all parks that you may visit are as pet friendly. Some will not let dogs in the water, others do not let dogs in the park whatsoever. That does not mean that they are not allowed on your rented watercraft.

When do we loop back around?

This river is a natural river. Natural rivers flow from an origin to an end. It does not loop back around or go in a circle. You will start you Adventure much like a natural rver, at an origin and you have an end as well. Our website has this information and your rental crew will go over this information with you as well at the begining of your Adventure.

Can I bring food and drinks?

Yes, absolutly! There are some great picnic spots along your Adventure. We do ask that you bring back your trash and a few pieces that you find along the way would be nice as well. Conserving our natural waterways keeps Adventures like yours happening, so please don't litter.

What kind of wild life will I see?

The list of these would be too long to read. Let's go over some basic wildlife that you may see... Reptiles, mammals, birds, & fish.Too basic? Let's try again... Keep your eyes peeled for heron, falcon, eagles, American kestrel, and many more birds that frequent our beautiful Florida waterways. Below the water there are mullet, largemouth bass, Suwannee bass, blue gill, sunfish, channel catfish, gar, sturgeon, turtles galore, and yes - the occasional alligator (don't be alarmed, they are local. They are quite used to people, just be mindful of them and respect their privacy.), you may also see manatee, otters, deer, gopher turtles, and many more beautiful creatures.

Is the river clear?

The springs are clear most of the time. During river flooding, springs can brown out... What this means - is that the river (which is brown), has flooded causing it to flow up and into the springs to temporarily cause them to be brown. So, no. The river is brown. This brown colored water is caused by tannic acid coming from the cypress trees that can be found all along the river's bank.

For kayaking, canoeing, tubing, or camping... None. These activities are all novice level. The kayaking, canoeing, and tubing are all down river. The river does most of the work for you. Just relax, take pictures, and enjoy the ride. Of course, paddling can be done and will need to be done but it is not typically a challenge. For pontoon boating and golf cart rentals... experience does help, not that you need a lot but some is better. Adults are the only drivers allowed for these 2 activities. For pontooning a boater's safety course is required if born after 1988. For golf cart rentals an active state driver's license is required.

How easy does my boat flip? How much room does my boat have?

Canoes flip the easiest, but have more space for more stuff. You can easily carry coolers, camping gear or even your pet in a canoe. Single kayaks are second on the list as far as flip-ability. Less room but less flipping, small coolers or carry bags are all that really fit on our singles along with you of course. Tandem kayaks can tip but very rarely. A little more room for extras but still not much. Hybrids have the least flip-ability. In order to flip a hybrid, you practically have to do it on purpose. Hybrids also have plenty of room for extras including large coolers and pets. What is a hybrid? Check out our kayaking page.
